NEW RELEASES
CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS
CITY SWEETHEARTS - SLEEPING THROUGH MODERN TIMES (LP/P.TRASH) Great stuff from Toronto's City Sweethearts, featuring Vicious Cycle and ex-Heartattacks members. Sleaze-o-phonic 70s sounds that'll make you hip shaking crazy in a New York Dolls kinda fashion. Get out your booze, lipstick and air guitars!
STEVE ADAMYK - SPEED IT UP (7" + MAGAZINE/P.TRASH) Canadian punkrock-workaholic Steve Adamyk is back with a bang! Besides playing in tons of other bands (e.g. Sedatives, Million Dollar Marxists and many, many more) he started a band under his own name, to worship classic 70/80's power pop and punk, as well as a lot of new garage music. Assisted by his brothers in crime Dave (Sedatives, Last Communion and more) and Davey (Mother's Children and more) they recorded a debut-EP, that kinda defines the simple magic formula for a hit-single: one hit on the A-Side + another hit on the B-side = hit-single!!! For fans of Ramones, New Bomb Turks, Beach Boys, Wau Y Los Arrrghs!!! etc. This 7" includes a copy of Corporate Rock Knockout Zine No. 0! Expect interviews and articles with New Bomb Turks, Ghetto Ways, Steve Adamyk and more.
STRANGE ATTRACTOR/RED MASS - SPLIT (10"/P.TRASH) A record that has more colors than a Disney movie on LSD and is crazier than the whole Muppet Show running out of Ritalin. Yes, ladies and gents, it's the P. Trash premiere of the nice and handy 10 inch format, with a bunch of manic and fabulous tunes on both sides.
EXPECTED RELEASES
CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS
VERMILLION SANDS - VERMILLION SANDS (LP-CD/ALIEN SNATCH!) Highly anticipated debut album of the Vermillion Sands out of the foggy city of Treviso in Italy. Lead singer Anna's undeniable charming twangy voice and inspired lyrics are amongst the notable elements, in an undercooled americana folk-garage pop style that's mixed with odd piano and organ parts, fuzzy synth and southern guitars. Silkscreen sleeve!
SECRET PROSTITUTES - MATI DI MOSKOW (7"/P.TRASH) This is the second release for these gropers from Houston, Texas. More signs of Breshnev's decaying West! Five tracks that will steer your needles through a course of Soviet Cold War inspired music. Truly dirty music! These vibes would not fit on the Urban Cowboy soundtrack.
STARFUCKER - FOR CRYING OUT LOUD (CD/REMUSIC) Starfucker, also known as the Belgian response to Foo Fighters, was founded in 2005. In just two years time the band, with 15-year young drummer Stefanie in the line-up, played about 200 concerts (incl. Pukkelpop) and they received extended airplay on the Belgian airwaves with their single 'Boys Will Be Boys'. The album was produced by Huub Rijnders who also worked with Krezip and Green Day. More news will follow.
SELECTED PRESS QUOTES
CONTEMPORARY ARTISTS
DEWOLFF - STRANGE FRUITS AND UNDISCOVERED PLANTS (CD-LP/REMUSIC) reviewed by Jon 'Mojo' Mills for Record Collector (excerpt) ...their passion and prowess ignites the music in the same way as fellow progenitors The Black Keys, Wolfmother and, indeed, Wolf People.
MAGNAPOP - CHASE PARK (CD/BASSICK) reviewed by Sandra de Haan for Zone5300 site (translated excerpt) ...though they may be passed the highpoint of their career, with this catchy record Magnapop still have a lot more to offer than the average American guitarrock outfit.
WOODEN VEIL - WOODEN VEIL (CD/DEKORDER) reviewed by Araglin for FileUnder (translated excerpt) ...Wooden Veil music sounding like the materialised spasms of an alternative 21st century.
OBLIVIOUS - GOONS AND MASTERS (CD/TRANSUBSTANS) reviewed by Cosmicmasseur for ConcreteWeb (excerpt) This is a highly competent retro bluesy stoner rock attack...
60’s & 70’s & 80’s (RE-)RELEASES AND ARTISTS + OTHER OLDIES
TORMENTORS - HANGING 'ROUND (CD/GEARFAB) reviewed by Ewie for FileUnder (translated excerpt) The level of the songs is high. They possibly weren't at the right place at the right time, otherwise their career would probably have taken a more fortunate turn.
HEADSTONE - STILL LOOKING (CD-LP/WORLD IN SOUND) reviewed by Ewie for FileUnder (translated excerpt) The band never achieved much success. Why, I'm not sure. But 'Still Looking' proves that just a good album doesn't do the trick.
MORNING DEW - AT LAST 1968-1970 (CD/CICADELIC) reviewed by Jon 'Mojo' Mills for Record Collector (excerpt) Coming across like Cream, Iron Butterfly and Moby Grape, we now know it's a gem.
